CHAPTER 2.2: JI CHUANCHENG
Within the spacious car carriage, the faint breathing of Steward Wang was the only sound that could be heard. Jing Xia held the steering wheel with a grave expression as he once again charged through a red light. The car’s speed was extremely fast and since there was almost no one to obstruct them, they were able to tranverse through more than half of B City within a short period of one hour, arriving in front of an independent villa.
The dense maple leaves blocked most of the carved iron front door. Unlike the courtyard of the Jing family, with the front of the house covered in dead leaves, giving it a dilapidated appearance. There was almost no rubbish in front of the house, with the occasional pieces of dried yellow leaves falling down, making it seem as if this already clean road could not be any cleaner.
This is the private house that Ji Chuancheng bought with his own ability after he was of age.
Since Ji Chuancheng lives in the army most of the time and often does not return to B City, this house had instead became a place for Jing Xia to amuse himself. With a large area, along with a secluded environment, being at least 200 meters away from any other house it could be said that this was extremely rare in the suburbs of B City.
Jing Xia stared for a long time at the abnormally clean pavement in front of the house, before getting out of the car with Steward Wang. Bathed in the scorching sunlight of summer, he confidently advanced and knocked on the door.
Due to the fact that a large majority of the electromagnetic waves had disappeared, the videophone on the wall to the right hand side of the gate, had long since become a decoration. Jing Xia pounded on the black door knocker, while also raising his voice to yell: "Ji Chuancheng! Ji Chuancheng! Ji Chuancheng! Show yourself, I know you are in there."
The raised tone reverberated throughout this quiet space, and because the environment was particularly tranquil, Jing Xia’s voice was extremely clear. Seeing that there was no movement coming from the house, and even the front door was not opened, Jing Xia could not help but crease his brows. Just as he prepared to shout again, he heard the voice of Steward Wang coming from the side, saying: "Young Master, Young Master Ji should still be in the army at the moment."
Jing Xia turned his head and said: "He really did come back." Just as his voice fell, Jing Xia pounded on the iron doors hard and shouted: "Ji Chuancheng! Hurry up and open the door, Ji Chuan..." His voice immediately cut off, when his line of sight fell on the man who had pushed the door open to walk towards himself, and Jing Xia stared blankly.
Probably because of the blistering hot weather, along with the vicious sunshine beating down upon the earth, even Jing Xia found it hard to endure in this weather, and so Ji Chuancheng was only wearing a simple vest. The tight-fitting black vest clung to the shoulder blades and downwards. While he had no large body-building muscles, a thin and firm layer of muscles hid beneath the skin.
His somewhat long black hair is slightly unkempt due to being drenched with sweat. Ji Chuancheng smoothed his hair back, revealing a full forehead. His forehead was also covered in perspiration, seeming as though he had just come out of a round of difficult training. His appearance was handsome, giving off an indifferent impression, as his long, slender legs unhurriedly walked towards the door, step by step. It had the elegance of a leisurely walk, yet the speed was actually quite fast, taking only a few seconds to get to the front door.
Ji Chuancheng stood expressionlessly at the iron front door, sternly and silently eyeing Jing Xia up and down, before asking, "How come you are here?" Saying this, he looked up and glanced back at the silver car, raising a distinct straight eyebrow: "Coming over from such a long distance away at this time, do you want to die? Tell me."
"Hurry and open the door for me." Hearing the reproachful tone of the other party, the overbearing air that surrounded Jing Xia immediately withered away. He swallowed a mouthful of saliva and bluntly started the conversation: "Were you training just then? I have been calling you for a long time."
Although his face had the ten thousand years old calm expression, Ji Chuancheng still pulled open the door to allow Jing Xia and Steward Wang to come in. He lowered his head and politely greeted Steward Wang, before turning it and looking coldly at the young man, giving a hollow laugh as he touched his hair. "How did you know that I came back to B City?"
Looking at the apathetic and handsome man before him, Jing Xia’s long prepared script was completely thrown into confusion. His entire person became like a punctured balloon, as he could only hollowly laugh two times, saying, “I am not... I care about you very much. I had known very early on that you came back."
His deep eyes flashed a flicker of emotion, Ji Chuancheng was silent for a brief moment, before raising his head and asked: "Since I’ve been back at B City for a whole month, why are you only coming to see me now?”
“……”
Gazing at the young man’s lowered head and tangled look for a long time, Ji Chuancheng’s brows slightly wrinkled, his fingers lightly contracted, but he did not speak again. He didn't know how long it took, before a sigh came out of his throat, and he once again brushed away the sweat-drenched hair on his forehead, saying, "Okay, don't think about it so much, come in first." The tone was flat and calm, seeming to be different from his usual voice, carrying a faint hint of bitterness.
When Jing Xia heard this sentence, all the excuses that he had been contemplating in his mind, were all thrown away. He did not find any abnormalities within the other party's words. Instead, he curved his lips into a smile and said: "Ok, let’s go in first, it just happens that I also have something to tell you."
Saying this, Jing Xia entered the house, following Ji Chuancheng.
Under the repeated requests of Ji Chuancheng, Steward Wang could only helplessly hand over the things he was carrying to the tall and vigorous young man. He himself had to follow his family’s Young Master and enter the house. Under the illumination of the dazzling sunlight, Steward Wang raised his head and through squinted eyes, stared at the rear view of the man wearing the close-fitting vest.
His legs are long and slender, walking at a steady pace. Standing next to his Young Master, he was still taller by half a head.
Young Master Ji had always been the most popular rich bachelor in the B City, however, there had been no news of his marriage even after he turned 30.
Thinking of this, Steward Wang’s footsteps suddenly stagnated. This old man who had abundant experience, immediately replayed the quiet and hidden gaze of Ji Chuancheng in his mind. However, after a brief moment he threw this idea to the back of his mind .
Sure enough, he was an old man... overthinking it.
